Hi all, first time poster here. I have a newly purchased 2003 Dodge Dakota SXT V6 3.9L. I have been doing alot of reading and watching you tube videos regarding different exhaust systems for the V6 3.9L.

From what i can tell, the most popular and in my opinion the best sounding seems to include the Flowmaster 40 series.

Here is my question. What is the best way to incorporate the Flowmaster 40 series into my exhaust system without over doing it and wasting money?

Some people keep much of the stock piping. Some run single in dual out. Some run single in single out. Cold Air Intake Etc.

Im not a cheapo but i also dont want to waste money without getting anymore out of it if i spent less.

Start by just replacing the stock muffler with a Flowmaster 40 see if you like it. The single in dual out setup is just for looks.

Sounds like a good plan. How about the tail pipe?

I'd stick with just stock. Cut it off from the stock muffler and by a bracket and secure it to the new muffler.

Or ofcourse weld it if you have a welder.
