I have heard of people retrofitting a Dodge speed sensor to a Ford 9 inch but I don't know how to do it.

Fitting the sensor would be pretty straightforward. The hard part is the tone ring on the ring gear.

What does the tone ring look like?

It's a big toothed ring that goes behind the ring gear and gives the speed sensor a signal.

So does the speed sensor have a gear on it too. I think I almost have it figured out.

Nope. The speed sensor is a magnet.

When I was at the ford dealer, we machined new tone rings for the planetary dana 130's we were putting in trucks. Relocated the sensor and tone ring to the right rear hub. Actually was not that hard. The hard part was getting a machine shop to cut the rings.

That is easier than what I had in mind. I will have to talk to you about that later. What suspension should I use on the front? I want something that rides better and I don't particularly like rack and pinion. I will also lower the truck after the V8 swap.

The hard part about relocating the sensor and ring is getting the shop to cut it, and making the sensor clear the wheel rim and brake rotor. I may still have some pictures of it somewhere.

Radius arm or leaf spring is the cheapest depending what axle was set up for previously. 4 link is the hardest.
