Default 02 Dakota - P0551

Will low power steering fluid cause my reader to throw code P0551? Or does this underline a different issue?

My specific 3.9l vin match-up doesn't show a power steering pressure switch on the vehicle... Weird I know.

From what I've seen the switch only comes on 4.7 engines although people have reported this code on their 3.9.

Yeah its quite bizarre. I'm thinking its just my PCM that needs reflashing. My engine light comes on and randomly turns off. Whatever the case, it's still odd that the code is even programmed for the 3.9l models.

Oh well. I'll just have to live with it for a little while. Thanks!

i bet you could con the dealer into checking into it, based on the linked topic.
