it's one of those 6-7's on a 1 to 10 scale. It takes more time than anything, but you gotta be remove your dash assembly out of the way to get to the heater core. I removed the whole a/c box-heater core assembly and it required removing a few nuts from the firewall on the engine bay side.. not sure if that's required just to remove the heater core from the a/c box though..

http://durangoclub.com/forum/viewtop...re+replacement Have fun. I just had my evaporator replaced at the dealer 2 days ago. It look to tech all day and he has done them before. If I didnt have an extended warranty the job would have cost $1000+

But you dont have to remove the steering column at all. Just pull teh steering wheel and drop the column by removing teh 4 nuts from the support bracket and lower it to the seat. Some people just make it harder than it really is. Heck I seen a guy completely disassemble the whole cab of his truck to do this. Seats, took teh dash COMPLETELY apart instead of leaving it together as a unit and still had a hell of a time.

you have to pump the a/c system down in order to remove the heater box because the a/c lines going to the evaporator wont let you get the box out from under the fire wall. i did mine last winter and it s!cked bad. it took me six hours and i'm a full time mech.
it best to take your time and pay attention to every thing you disconnect so you dont leave anything out or tear some of the wiring up. i have faith in you.

But some of us have had alot of practice doing this also. This will be the THIRD one I've replaced in a year and a half. Finally after 5 went bye bye I finally get an answer why. Electrolysis in teh coolent (weird that I got it since I do change coolent every 18 months.)
