Hi Pizzadoe, welcome to the forum

Do you have 4 wheel ABS or RWAL? In the glove box there should be a build sheet with your options. If you see a code BGJS that's RWAL only. You can also look for an electrical harness going to both front wheels.

Do you have any codes or a CEL (check engine light)? Is the speedometer working, all the time?

If the CEL light is on try this: Beginning with the key off turn it to run (not start), then off, run, off, and leave it in run. You should see any codes appear in your odometer window. It'll say P DONE if there aren't any.

Intermittent problems can be hard to chase down. If it's 4 wheel ABS it could also be intermittent contact or a broken wire at the front speed sensors, or a bad speed sensor itself - it's part of the hub and not replaceable. Check all connections and clean them with a good quality electrical contact cleaner.

Most code readers won't read ABS codes. A good brake shop or the dealer will have the tools however. If there is nothing obvious, it beats spending money chasing parts.

my abs light would turn on and off for a while till recently it just stayed on. didn't have the extra time or money to have it check out. the brakes worked normal with no problems, so i wasn't overly worried.

now that cold weather is here in the midwest. my battery was sluggish when i would go to start the truck for the 1st time in the day or after it sat for a while. i had the battery checked and it was bad( would still take a charge but still bad) so i got a new battery and the abs light went off and has stayed off since. well at least a month since i bought the battery.

might be some the to check if your battery is getting old?
