Default Creaky Steering - Low Fluid

So now my steering has a creaking sound to it. I checked and the fluid was a little low but still on the dipstick, I put in some ATF fluid in and still have the creak.

The rack and pinion has already been replaced on the truck back in 08.

Is there anything like a bushing or joint that could cause a creak? And one thing I noticed is the fluid smelled really burnt and it's only about 4-5 months old. Does powersteering fluid normally have a burnt smell to it?

Thanks

Just order 2 PS pumps. One for me and one for you. I can't afford one and I'm just about ready to get a shorter belt and bypass the PS pump if I can get away with it.

Oh I'm done with putting money into my POS.

Just sucks because I was getting close to looking at a new truck. To a dealer my truck must seem like a gem with only 65k on it. Not with this creaky *** steering and loud pulley noise.

I'm just wondering if its a bushing of some sort.

If you have a front sway bar I'd check your bushings for it, I know mine are bad and they cause my front end to creak when steering.

Where's the creaking? There are u-joints between the steering wheel and the rack.

so you buy a new one, send it to me, and I'll send you my quiet-but-overheating pump to put on yours to trade in

Dan,

If I had to guess it would be somewhere in that area. I can't hear it inside the cab with the windows up. I first noticed it at a drivethru.

I'll try spraying grease along the whole steering column and go from there.
