04 dakota coolant
I have an 04 dakota, it is the newest car that I have ever had so I don't know much on working on it. I am having a problem with the thermostat I think, but I really need to know how much coolant the whole system takes and what kind to use. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

Here is a fluid capacities thread:

But unfortunately it doesn't list the 3.7, only the 4.7 which I would imagine would be similiar since I believe the 3.7 is the 4.7 with 2 less cylinders.
Comparing the 3.9 with the 5.2 (same engine with 2 less cylinders) the numbers are almost the same.

Is the G05 Zerex the pink stuff that would've been factory fill on a 4.7? Mine has pink in it, looks super clean at 105K, but not sure if it's ever been changed or not. It's a little low so I need to top off....I assume G05 Zerex would be the stuff to use?

ZereX is more of a pale orange colour. Not nearly as dark as dex cool, but not pink either.
I'm not sure of any pink coolants other than Toyota. As far as I know Zerex G05 and green coolant are the 2 main ones for our trucks.
Edit: apparently the Mopar coolant is pink.

Just FYI, if you have a 4.7L, the thermostat is underneath and is kind of a PITA. When you add the coolant, run the engine till hot with the heat control turned to full hot. Leave the radiator cap off while running, until bubbles stop surfacing (burping). If you don't burp the system, air pockets can cause your engine to overheat in places that won't register on the temp gauge.
