Let us know if what I told you works. You have the shift **** instead of a shift lever correct? If so it could be a bad shift solinoid (sp). We had guy in camp had one go out on his 10' F 150. Wouldn't go back in 2 wd.

Glad I have the old fashioned lever.

I'd say your shift motor is shot.
But I'm geussing.
Its where I'd start.

okay so i tried everything and still no luck...it just seams to be 4lo i can shift from 2wd to 4wd ...last night after dropping a bale to the horses i had to drive about 1/4 mile and it was only when i backed up it shifted out...but 5min be for that backed up when forward with no luck...But i have noticed that as it gets warmer out it shifts a little better?? don't know just have to deal with it until i figure it out

What kind of fluid is in the t case? How cold has it been?

ATF IV is the latest recommended fluid for the 231's and up. I don't know what's in my T case as I've only had it for a couple of months, but mine has shifted at -20 with no problems.

it's been dang near that around here ..cold!! but everyone i talk to say's the same thing..." i don't use 4lo" so it's hard to say if other trucks do the same thing...it's going in the shop today... hopefully they can figure it out..as far as the oil..we put amsoil 5-30 transmission fluid in it
