Let us know if what I told you works. You have the shift **** instead of a shift lever correct? If so it could be a bad shift solinoid (sp). We had guy in camp had one go out on his 10' F 150. Wouldn't go back in 2 wd.
Glad I have the old fashioned lever.

okay so i tried everything and still no luck...it just seams to be 4lo i can shift from 2wd to 4wd ...last night after dropping a bale to the horses i had to drive about 1/4 mile and it was only when i backed up it shifted out...but 5min be for that backed up when forward with no luck...But i have noticed that as it gets warmer out it shifts a little better?? don't know just have to deal with it until i figure it out
What kind of fluid is in the t case? How cold has it been?
ATF IV is the latest recommended fluid for the 231's and up. I don't know what's in my T case as I've only had it for a couple of months, but mine has shifted at -20 with no problems.
