In the market soon for 01-02 quadcab, 4x4
Probably after christmas i will be looking for a 01-02 quad cab v8, 4x4 and was wondering if there are some common problems to look for when i go shopping. Anything to look for?
it wont be a daily driver, more something i can put the kids and go somewhere and also tow hte occasional car or trailer. i have a car that gets 30mpg that i drive to work so i cant justify driving it every day just for fun.
im getting to use as a truck and do truck stuff with it. that being said i only put 10k miles a year on my car so the truck will be even less. so something in the 100k mile range should keep the price down right? should i worry about buying one with that many miles? it will take an occasional trip of 200-300 miles so i need reliability.
I have loved the dakota for some time now and cant wait to get one. i have only recently converted to the quad cab because i had my 2nd kid and my car is a 2 door, one kid is ok in it every now and then but 2 is not fun. anyway, anysugestions would be great

The only real problems I've had or heard of with these trucks was the recall for the ball joints. If they're not fixed on the one you find. Take it to a Dodge dealer and they're do it for free. Recall work. Other than that I had a blower motor resister go on my heater. A couple of other guys have had the same problem. Not just with Daks but Rams too. Mine was fixed for free. It was still under warranty. And finally brakes. The stock brakes on these things suck. Spend a little extra money and upgrade to some slotted or cross drilled rotors and ceramic brake pads. As far a milage. A couple of guys have real high milelage on theirs and they're still running strong.
BTW. I've got an 01 QC with the 4.7 V8
