04 4.7 hesitation
What is the recommended change out time for the coils?
My 04 Dakota has 160,000 on the clock.
I changed plugs back at about 140,000.
It has just recently started the hesitation under acceleration.
Since the plugs are relatively new, I am thinking it may be a coil or two.
What kind of plugs do most people run in these 4.7 V-8's?

Hi and welcome to the forum!
There is no changeout scheduled for the coil packs.
The 4.7 uses RC12MCC4 Champion copper core plugs.
I moved this into a new thread.
When did you remove and clean the throttle body last? Do you have any codes? Do the key dance.

I cleaned the TB a few thousand miles back.
No codes are showing up.
I did have a code that was for the transmission, but that cleared, too.
I think I will change plugs again and clean the TB again.
If that doesn't fix it, I'll swap the coils out.
I found a set on Amazon for $90 a set, including shipping.

Maybe a better question would be to ask about other peoples experience with coil failure and about how many miles were involved.
135k, no failures, no swapouts. But, since new it has only run the Champion plugs.
Just an update:
I did pull the throttle body off and cleaned it really good a few days back.
That had no effect on the engine, but it made me feel better.
I went ahead and got new plugs and coils and swapped them out today.
That thing runs like a spotted-assed ape now!!
I love this truck.
My kids and grandson are always trying to get me to buy myself a new one and give them this one, but no dice.
They can find their own little red truck !!

Love it!!!!! I was going to ask about this or that, suggest this or that, but it looks like we have a winner... winner winner chicken dinner!
