k. my next question is. would it be worth the extra work to make it work. i think it is a 9.25 (12 bolts on the cover plate). he only wants $150, and it would be a bump from 3.55 to 3.92. he also has a front 3.92 axle for 100.
hmmmmm. wonder how much shipping would be? would that affect towing a trailer much? that and what would be involved in making the rear end 4.56?
It would probably tow great. To change the rear, you would need to replace the ring and pinion (and probably the bearings), but I think the differential carrier is the same. It's not really a do-it-yourself job unless you have experience and special tools. Around here, it costs anywhere from $200 to $400 per axle to have it done (labor only).
