Default Help with new exhaust system

Hey guys, I have a 2000 dodge Dakota 4.7L and I am looking for a new exhaust system that is cheap. I was thinking about cutting off the old muffler and installing a summit racing chambered muffler. I would also get some exhaust connectors and drop it before the rear axle. I don't have a lot of money and i want a more deeper exhaust sound. i was originally looking at a thrush turbo muffler but the summit racing muffler looked a little better. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you want cheap, cut everything from the muffler back off and then run pipe to the rear axle and dump out the side. Viola done

assuming this is what you mean, i just recently did it to my quad cab 03, 3.9 and even with it being the smaller motor it is loud. alot of that has to do with the fact that i put a cherry bomb SINGLE chamber muffler on it. i cut off enough to reuse the old exhaust (muffler and rear pipe) but also enough to keep the exhaust hanger that is right before the stock muffler. then clamped the muffler on. after i cut and figured out how much i wanted the first piece to be (the right chamber, closest pipe in picture) then pulled it back off and put the left pipe right next to it and marked it so they would run next to eachother and exit by eachother. my pipes are made up of 1 24" pipe, 1 18" pipe, 2 90 degree pipes, and after cutting the 24 and 18 pipe i used it to even the pipes at the exit of the exhaust. after all that i put some cheap tips on the clean it up a bit.

i know thats alot to read but i hope it helps. preferably i wish i would've gotten a muffler with at least one more chamber or a turbo one. also mine total costed around $80-100

Just replace your muffler and slap your old tail pipe back on and your done. You can get a cat back exhaust system off ebay for about 200 bucks. I bought a magnaflow one off there for my old 98
