Default Hub noise but which one? Bad case of CRS

I'm 99% sure I've got a hub growl (along with busted axle boots) but can't remember one? I mean I have small growl driving straight. bigger growl on right handed curves. no growl on left handed curves. can't remember which turn indicates which side. I have a bad case of CRS Can't Remember Stuff.

Local fixit shop said everything looks and feels fine except the busted CV joint on driver side axle. I've not noticed any of the signs or noise that either side is going bad other than the boot being busted.

Unless they were replaced in the past and you have a 97 they are both bad if one is bad both need replaced.

Are you the original owner?

Is all the grease out of the busted boot? If it is dry, go with the axle replacement. However, for all the work in getting the axle off and out, might as well change the hub while you're in there.

As DAKAZ mentions, at 17 years old, might as well do both hubs; it's just a matter of time.

On my truck, the noise got quiet when I turned opposite the bad bearing. My left front hub was bad so when I turned right it got quiet.

Odds are that if one is bad the other isn't far along. Fix that CV boot while you're in there.

That was what I thought but again CRS.

I plan on packing grease in the CV joint and fixin the boots while I'm at it. I replaced one hub about 3 years back. (timken from rockauto) But I couldn't remember which one. Thought the fixit shop could tell me but both looked the same to me and them. I'm the ? owner so I might just replace the axles instead of trying to add grease and fix the boot. Going to hit rockauto wide open I guess.

Thanks everybody for all the help

You have a 4x4. Run it on jack stands and listen for the sound.
