I'm new to liftin any kind of vehicle and every trucky i've had ive wanted to lift just havent had the chance to. I got a 99 dakota sport 4x4 with the 318 in it and i plan on keepin it for awhile so ive decided to lift it. I want to fit 285/70/17 so my questions are, how much lift will i need? will i have to extend my brake lines? and whats the cheapest way to do this without sacrificing ride quality or adding more strain on the front suspension? thanks.

Yep, the 3" body lift would be the easiest for what you're looking for. No extra strain on the ride quality or front suspension components.
I run 33's on my 99 with just a 1.5" block lift in the rear and the t bars cranked to match, but I've blown the passsenger side CV axle twice. A body lift will keep the suspension gemetry the same, no need for longer shocks, same ride quality as stock, etc...
You will have to relocate/extend a few things with the body lift, but a kit should give you all you need.
