Default 2000 Dakota 4.7 AC "experience"

Well here is one for the record book of "why" things owners do. Just bought this Dakota in March, really clean and low miles for a fourteen year old truck. It only had 77k on it when I took possession. Fast forward a couple of months and it turns out the AC system which seemed to blow cold (in the cold weather) was in fact not cooling. Checked and no Freon in the system, started to suck the system down to see if it would hold vacuum and no go. Started looking to see where the problem might be and low and behold the liquid line is gone as in not even there. Ordered a new liquid line (with orifice tube in the line) which wasn't too bad but also ordered an accumulator as this one had been open to atmosphere for who knows how long. Now to install these parts and pressure check the system for leaks and then charge and see if I need to install a compressor now too.

The joys of pre-owned trucks, I'm sure this one is gonna be a good one once the wrinkles are ironed out....

Welcome to the forum.

Yeah, used vehicles can really give you a surprise at time. Hopefully you've taken care of the problem now.

Keep us posted, good luck.

Don't forget to ad a can of Pag 100 with the R-134a as you replace the accumulator it will remove that much oil.
