Default Noise in the Motor room....

Hey dodge people. I gotta an issue, maybe someone can help. I have a 2000 Dakota, with 120K miles and i have a roaring sound in the engine compartment. It sounds like it is located near the ac compressor. any ideas or similar problems. Let me thanks. [&:]

If it gets louder with engine speed its probably the fan clutch.

No it doesn't get any louder. Actually it reduces as i speed up and then disappears for a while. Which is what is throwing me off. I checked for a possible vaccum line loose but all line i could see were in place. But thanks for the suggestion. [&:] [sm=morning.gif]

I have a 2001 QC 4.7 and it does the same thing. It's definitely the fan and it must be normal for our trucks. Also there's an electric fan in there for the A/C which seems to run a lot on mine even when the A/C is off, funny thing is, if I turn the heater control to a position where there's no defrost action, the electric fan goes off and the idle drops a bit.....weird eh?

[:@] Well guys found the source of the noise, turns out the A/C compressor bearings are shot. But thanks to those who gave advice with this issue. Now time to dump money in the engine. Ya'll take it easy, and again thanks for the advice.
