If you can read this, thank a teacher... no thank my Mom and my determination to do it.

Teachers help but are not needed most are as smart as they want to be

I'm glad your mom was able to teach you.

My mom taught me and many others to read as a special education teacher grades K-12.

A teacher can be anyone. Teaching many different skills.

You are correct in that in order for a teacher to teach the student a skill whatever the skill is.
The student has to be willing and determined to learn the skill.

As a matter of fact I think the world would be a better place if we all would learn the lessons that our mothers were trying to teach us. Instead of trying to learn on our own mistakes.
Mistakes we make in life are a great teacher too.
Like learning not to touch the manifold after the engine has been running for 30 minutes.
The 3rd degree burns on ours hands taught us that a manifold gets HOT and don't touch it until it cools down.

Yep, or just find a used one from the junkyard.
