There is a handful of R/T owners with 5-speed or 6-speed manual transmissions in their trucks. Keisler makes a conversion kit, but it isn't cheap - I think most people paid in the neighborhood of $5000-7000 for the complete procedure including parts/labor.

I was looking to do that, but the price was around what sincity posted. Alot of problems will occure. for one cutting a shift column, clutch, belts, driveshaft, ect.... its worth it though if you have the time and money and a good mechanic. unless you trust yourself to do it.

In reading this I'd like to know about putting a 5.9l into a Dak. w/5.2l 5 speed. Will the clutch plate and computer interchange.

More than that would have to change. you wouldalso have to put in a new computer because the fule curves are diffrent than the 318. It probably could be done but obviousally not an overnight job.

im going to do the work myself, i was just looking to find out what kind of trans to use, what kind of wiring problems i would run into and what kind of comp. to use. ive been messing with imports for a while, i did an auto to manual swap in my 97 prelude that i just sold. you couldnt tell that it was ever an auto. i plan on just disconnecting the column shift and swapping the plastics for some out of a 5 speed dakota. shouldnt be a need to swap the whole column, i think. maybe have to get a custom drive shaft if i cant find one the right length...... my trans is slipping so im gonna have to drop some cash soon anyway.
