My Dakota, which I bought second-hand, has only the clutch fan; it has no electric fan. I'm reading that apparantly there should be an ELECTRIC fan as well, to run when A/C is on?

Is that correct? Am I missing an auxiliary fan of some sort?

 

Mechanical fan unless you upgrade to an e-fan.

 

My understanding was all 4.7 and 3.7 had both fans look for the fan plug it should be their. Seeing as the 4.7 and 3.7 should never be overheated even a little an efan is a good addition plus its a good thing to have if you use/need your A/C.

2004 and earlier 4.7s should have both fans. 2005 and up just have clutch fans. All the 2nd gen 4.7 trucks I've ever come across have had both. But there very well could be something i don't know about.

 

I am going to check but iirc my 03 4.7 4x4 5 spd regular cab does not have an electric fan. I bought it new in 03 too.
