2002 Dakota error code p0455
There was an obvious cracked hose underneath the driver side door in the fuel line so I changed it about 6 months ago after the check engine light came on. The check engine light went off I figured problem was solved now here I am and I can't find a cracked hose anywhere and I don't know more than what YouTube tells me. My dad gave me the truck last year. I just had the front steering shaft replaced and that cleaned me out of funds for a while. So I'm asking for advice do I need to do a smoke test? What exactly does the the code mean? Is it a leak or a blockage? Please help. Thanks in advance.
Hi, Welcome to the forum!
P0455 Evap Leak Monitor - Large Leak Detected.
You can check the easy first, the gas cap, but that's not usually a "large" leak.
Did you check the fuel filler neck and hose? Then can rot out and that will cause a large leak.
A "smoke test" is probably the easiest way to find it AFTER you rule out all the other lines.

can also be a bad evap pump as well. Not able to pull the vacuum, or pulling it and not detecting it.
But what do I know? Every hose under my truck that doesn't contain fluids looks like the ground in death valley.
