Default Dakota with 32x11.50 r15s. Too big?

Hey guys. I just bought a 1998 Dodge Dakota 4x4. Not in the best condition but I got it for a deal and I'm excited to fix it up.

Three of the tires are in great shape but one isn't so I decided to look up the tire size online. 32x11.50 r15s. Well I was directed to this forum where someone said that these tires are too big for the dakota.

So, are these tires too big for this truck? I can buy a set of P-235-75-R-15 instead.

Thanks for your help.

Doh. Just realized there must be a lift kit. Previous owner didn't mention one. I measured and there is 16 inch clearance from the undercarriage to the ground. Should be 8.5, by what they say online.

Ok so I guess my question now is... what is the equivalent to 32x11.50 tires? I need to replace the bad one but can't find any labelled under 32x11.50.

lift kit not needed for that height of tire (8.5" is measured from the axle center housing BTW) but that width should definitely be giving you rubbing issues when turning. 265/70/16 is the most common tire on the Dak. 32 10.5 should be available.

Hey, thanks so much for your post. Sorry for my ignorance, this is my first experience with trucks and I've got a lot to learn.

I found some good used tires 235-75-R-15. Would that be too small for the dakota? Read that they are appropriate but if i should get the 265/70/16 I will definitely do that.

And the tires that are currently on the truck are BF GOODRICH MUD TERRAIN T/A 32x11.50 .

The three of them that are in good shape are in really good shape so it'll be a shame to sell them.

235's are the base tire width, IMO not good for hauling or canadian winters, where you want all the width you can get (probably the reason for the 11.5 snow shoes).

Not sure if TR ships to Canada or not… http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....WLV2&tab=Sizes
