Fuel injection ticking sound

Just wondering.....

Can fuel injectors themselves make an audible ticking sound?

If so, I'm wondering if its possible this could be mistaken for a sticky lifter or exhaust manifold leak.

Yes they can tick. They are basically an electrically operated valve. Normally though, they aren't loud.
