Tires man! Have good tires on your truck and it'll be better than a LSD with poor tires.

What about LSD with good tires?

The tires are good.

I can confirm, and I think that now dodgevity can confirm as well (assuming he watched what I PM'd him), that the tires are almost meaningless when put around a nose-heavy/tail-light truck with any kind of traction device. I have brand new destination AT's on all 4 corners and I can whip it around like nothing....

Are the carriers in a Dodge 4x4's rear diff the same as 2WD models with anti-slip?

Which Jeeps are you talking about?

I think he means the cherokee's. They also use the 8.25 (smaller) axle as some dakotas. Other dakotas, durangos, and some ram 1500's use the 9.25 .

The best of both worlds is an ARB air locker, until you see the price tag.

Thanks, dude. Looks like you were having some fun there. Although, If I threw my Dak around like that, I imagine it would do the same thing with this open diff on wet road. Like you said... nose heavy and tail light + wet road... stomp on the gas and it will break loose. I'm sure the dynamics are way different with a locker though. Guess I need to get out there and drive one.

With the ARB air locker, you have to install an air compressor? Wow

Gotta get air from somewhere. I may or may not start working for the shop that put my locker in, we're still in contract negotiations. He's an ARB dealer and they have some pretty neat stuff.

There are electric lockers out there that work on the same principle, but i'm told the electromagnets don't tend to last long.

Okay, so in my quest to find a junkyard LSD (or locker), I want to be sure that I'm in the right ballpark. So basically, any Chrysler product with 12 bolts on the diff cover should be a 9.25 and I can check the tag (if there is one) for LSD? Are there any other identifiers which would clue me in aside from vehicle markings... 4x4, etc?

That's pretty much it. 12 bolt cover in a chrysler product. I'm not sure if it was part of the 4X4 group or not.

Thanks for all the help. I don't know how this will all turn out. Maybe I'll get lucky, pull a diff cover and see an air locker inside, in the junkyard. LOL
