Vin code? where is it stamped on the frame?
Hi
I need to know where the VIN code is stamped on the frame on my Dodge Dakota 1999? It's a 4x4, Engine 318 ".
Is here somebody who can tell me about it. The reason is that the annual vehicle inspection requires that I show it, there are new rules and I do not want to clean the entire frame.

Welcome to the forum Enbjorn,
I don't know of a VIN code stamped on the frame.
Besides the VIN at the base of the windshield, you should have:
1. A metal body code plate is attached to the floor pan under the passenger seat. Remove the passenger seat, door sill scuff plate and pull back the carpet to access the body code plate.
2. The Equipment Identification Plate is located at the left, front of the inner hood panel.
Hope it helps.

Hello and thanks for the reply ..in have the VIN code at the base of the windshield. I thought there were numbers on the frame.
I have a Chevrolet Nomad 56 frame here in my workshop where there are numbers at the front end and one on top of the frame (b-pillar under the body). (hidden number).
The number is stamped by the Chevrolet original. I assumed that there is also on my Dodge.
Then I punch the correct number in the appropriate place so I can show them that it is right frame of the vehicle.
Sincerely Enbjorn
