Default 2003 Dodge Dakota

Ok i need some help

I spent 1,000$ in parts and a 1996 Yukon for labor cause i spent all the money in parts.

1 new head gasket kit

2 heads resurfaced an vales and cams check

3 450.00 timing chain an gear

4 all new sensors

fuel pump

timeing done buy a shop cause i was off a tooth an didnt want to take back apart. Now it will run sometimes but most of the time i have to have my foot on the peddle an camsaft sendor keep pulling codes 0061 an one more. So i took the new sendor out an it was caked with metal shaving. I check the oil an nothing in the oil an truck is Parked. it wont go over 3000 rmp revlimeter kicks in an the cruise control will not turn on onless the motor is not running. im think before the timing was to advance an when the shop timed it i think it was a little retarded but dont explain the metal shaving on the cam sensor

Welcome to the forum Scott.

First, what engine?

P0061 is an O2 heater code.

What are the exact codes? Both of them.

If it's the 3.9 or the 5.9, since you say "timing" and someone turned the distributor your fuel sync is VERY LIKELY off and it'll run like crap.

Default lol opps engine size

Yeah how I missed that sorry 4.7 v8 Not the H.O. I figured out why the cam sensor is now working is cause of the metal shaveings. Trying to figure it out before there is a grove in the sensor. there is nothing on the oil thanks goodness.

Default 2003 Dakota(52,000 miles) Overheating

The last few months my Dakota has overheated once I let it cool and filled with coolant and made my way home. Thought maybe I failed to checked the coolant level. No problem the last two months. Then made a two hour trip this weekend-no problem. I checked the coolant level before I left. Had to run an errand later that day. Stopped to get fuel for ten minutes then ten miles down the road on the way home it overheated again. Allowed it to cool and added coolant. The next day a two hour trip back home--no problem. I did not use the A/C thinking that may it may be the cause. When I got home this morning I checked the coolant level. It was OK!

Any ideas? Thermostat sticking when the engine cool?? Radiator need to be flushed? Hoses look good. As you guessed I'm not a mechanic.
