1997 Dakota Security Alarm Goes off on Passenger Door
I bought the truck second hand but I don't believe if has any after market security system installed.
It's a manual key, not wireless one. When the doors are locked, I can only open the door from the drive side with out tripping the alarm.
If I open the door using the key from the passenger side, the alarm goes off.
I wonder what seems to be the problem? and is there a way to disable the factory security alarm all together? I don't see any on/off switch from security on the dashboard.
Thanks

I had the same problem on a 97 intrepid. it was the door lock cylinder. it also sounds like a factory system and I believe you should have received a wireless key fob when you bought it. that's the normal entry method for the factory system and the door key is a secondary entry method. I had a red blinking light on the dash sun sensor that would indicated the alarm was armed. I don't think you can disarm the factory system.
