how hard would it be to install a 318 with a 904 tranny in my 04 dakota

What year is the 318? 04 Dak did not come with a 318. Either 3.7 or 4.7. It is not impossible, but it would involve some work. Engine, computer, wiring harness, probably the instrument cluster as well.

Agree with the above. It's a lot of work. There are major differences in the wiring harnesses alone.

Not sure of your plans for the truck but if you don't plan to use the PCM you'll lose all your gauges for sure.
