Default Power Steering Connection Question

I recently replaced my power steering pump, as well as the rack and pinion. The gearbox seal failed, and the pump dumped fluid then the shaft seal failed.

After replacing everything, and flushing, I have a whine in my pump, and will sometimes loose power assist at low rpm (idle). The whine only occurs when I am off center with the steering.

Which power steering hose goes to which port on the rack (which is pressure and which is return).

I have a 99 Dakota 2WD with the 3.6L V6.

Just follow the lines from the reservior. The return line is always the uppermost hose on the canister.

Almost sounds more like your belt tensioner has gone weak so the belt is slipping or you have a bad new/reman pump and that happens more than you think.

No fluid lose?

How did you bleed the air out?

The book method is jack the front end and turn it, engine off, 20 times stop to stop.

The power steering pump will pull the engine towards a stall - that is why I would not expect belt slip.

I am just wanting to know which port on the steering box is supposed to be connected to the return line.
