Default Hard to start, surging idle, and bogging

Hi everyone,

I have an 03 Dakota SLT 4x4 with the 4.7L. Recently the truck has been a little hard to start with cranking over about twice as long as normal, however cranking is not sluggish. I sometimes have throttle surging from 500rpm-1000rpm when cold. Most recently when I step on the throttle when cold, the truck bogs down almost to stall, and then take off.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Guy

Check your fuel pressure. You can rent/borrow a gauge from most auto parts stores.

Clean the throttle body. Take it off the truck to do this and make sure you thoroughly clean the IAC passages.
