So you think you're an expert? I'm new to the forum and I was wondering(for all you spec. saavy people out there) if there are different bed lengths in the 2nd gen. R/T...and also if the Quad Cab came in an R/T version...any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Dont really need to be an expert...

The extended cab AND standard cab are only offered with the short bed (6 foot length) on the R/T models. The quad cab bed length is 5.2 feet, and there was no R/T quad cab, but the quad cab WAS offered with the 5.9 (jealous....)

Exactly what the man above said......there was only 1 bed length for the R/T models which is 6ft.

Also, the ability of the truck to haul and carry weight was also reduced due to a lowered suspension and performance.... The 5.9L was offered in the Quad Cad, and it was offered in the Durango.... but it was not offered in the Dakota outside of the R/T models when the R/T model was in production.....

You could only get the 8ft bed's on a RC Dakota....

Exactly what I wanted to know, but just to clarify, the extended cab and regular cab R/T's were NOT the same overall length? I'm just wondering if they took the space need to make the entended cab R/T from the bed or if they just made the truck longer. Thanks again.

no, the wheelbase is different, my wheelbase on my QC is the same as the extended cab, the regular cab had a shorter wheelbase, maybe a longer one with the long bed, I dont quote me on that last part though...

The Quad-Cab and Club Cab share the same frame. The RC with the 8ft. also uses that frame. They took the space from the ClubCab to give it the 8ft bed. That's why you dont see many trucks with 8ft beds.....
