Default Noise when changing HVAC mode

When I switch airflow modes to to either of the defrost settings (mostly when I go from recirc, clockwise to full defrost), I get an angry chipmunk sound that lasts about two seconds. Sounds like I need some lube in the mechanism. Was wondering if any of you experience this, and if you've been able to solve it, short of dash disassembly? It's nothing highly noticeable but I'd rather lube it before it breaks. I'm hoping some spray lube with a long straw may work, as long as I can find the spot.

Thanks

It's likely coming from one of the actuators - they're electric in your '03. You won't be able to lube them short of taking them out and disassembling them.

OK, I'm confused.

Getting what? You'd have to remove the actuator and then take it apart to even have a chance at lubing it.

Live with the noise.

Sorry, Dan. I was asking if any of you guys are getting that sound. That's what happens when I type too fast at work.

No problem.

More than likely there is a gear that is worn/stripped in the actuator itself.

Has anyone tried to replace these servos at all you never know it may be easier than on say 2001 and older dakota like my Dak thats vacuum operated? Look in the service manual you may not need to remove the dash like on the older Dakotas just tilt it out still work but maybe not as bad.

I guess the rodent extraction didn't work!!

rockauto only shows one servo available
