Default rockauto??? old garbage

I like rockauto but I have had people tell me they buy old parts from closed shops that they then sell the parts.

Never had that experience till now just ordered some small brake parts from them what I received was a pile of very old box's that looks like they were sitting on the shelf for around 20 years.

I did not like the look of these parts very disappointed with rockauto

I also received some brake pads that were all chipped up in bad shape I returned them.

Starting to distrust them

That's how they keep prices low. They are kinda like a salvage building material place. Buying up excess stock or stock that has been replaced with different model numbers. All their stuff is sitting in warehouses all over the place. I expect it. I also don't order brake pads online. Too easy for something to happen to them the way delivery drivers are.

Are you installing the parts or the boxes? I can see returning damaged parts but if the parts are perfect and the boxes are just old-looking, who cares?

One thing to remember - if you buy the "closeout" items, well, yah, they're usually old shelf stock.

This is not always a bad thing, mind you! (Recently, almost all manufacturers have changed to an "improved" design bushing for my other car, which ... locks the pivoting member into the rubber so you can't properly adjust the camber on the rear of the car. So the closeout bushings are still the old design and work, instead of the new design that doesn't ... )

Thumbs down

I have never received old parts before and don't want them either as I was trying to not buy a complete brake kit at $40.

If you want old crap thats your choice the two cables I received are junk and I will toss in the trash it says nothing on the product page the parts are old stock.

I expect new they should change their name to rockauto we sell old crap so beware what you order.

These parts said nothing about being closeout parts that I ordered

Personally I don't mind new- old parts as long as they work. If I want brand new, I go to a parts store. Guess you learned a valuable lesson trying to save money.

I use rockauto for the correct part not for the price auto parts stores in AZ. SUCK. In fact shopping for anything in AZ. is terrible I do about 90% of my shopping online its so bad. Customer service is abysmal in AZ its like they could care less if you find what you want or need any help at all.

An example you in walk into a store and ask an employee were can I find a part I need.

Southern CA employee answer ok follow me I can help you if not I can see if we can order it for you with a smile on their face.

AZ employee usualy if you are lucky they even answer you they may just ignore you at best.

If States had a customer service rating AZ would be on the bottom of the list as very poor.

You think Im making this up come visit Arizona and be shocked

And yes I do order some things for the price on rockauto but convenience is the main reason and what you order you get.

When I first moved to Arizona I found it extreamly weird how poor customer service was everywhere all businesses like some chronic problem customer service is just very poor in AZ Its the norm.

Another example is

In California I shipped packages often the norm is the employee will always fill in the shipping form for you as a curtesy and be fast and friendly. In Arizona they toss you the form and a pen and walk away when this first happened I didn’t know what to say like night and day.
