Default Need your oppinion on Truck sale Value

Hey all;

need some input on value, considering selling the Dakota and upgrade to a full size or 3/4 ton since i purchased some property the dakota though ideal for offroad; is now too small for my needs.

I've put quite a bit of work into this truck; 32" tires; body lift; off road rims; engine work (plen. plate; timing chain set, polish... ) along with the various mods I've done.

Overall I know the value is really dependent on someone looking for a truck like this* and configured in this manner.

The only real issues the truck has is the paint has some spots the outer layer (It was previously repainted) is peeling off.. so this is going to be a big value killer I think.. but overall the truck is really good shape; and runs really good.

I love the truck but its just too small.

NADA shows the high value at 3500 Low and 5K high, KBB shows about the same but about 500-700 less but those sites are not taking into account the lift ; tires, rims; tow hitch and things like that, which makes this truck... well this truck.

SO wanting your opinion what a fair asking price would be for this truck the way i have it considering the truck will eventually need a paint job even if its just a maco special.

Unfortunately, upgrades and modifications do not add to a vehicles value when it comes time to sell. You can try to go slightly higher than estimated worth and include those things in the ad, but, as you said, someone looking for a truck just like you have made it will probably be the only one willing to pay extra for it.

Edit: That is, unless you are including the boat in that price..... ; )

Yes value is up to the individual that sees the said value. But you try and buy the same or any truck.. for that matter with any form of lift and they charge an arm and a leg.. so I'm think.. it's towards the higher end.

I always start with a price higher than I would actually sell for. If your not in a hurry. Start real high and adjust once a week or so.

I just recently sold mine for $5k. That's in California, where prices are higher. I can guarantee I had a lot more money into it than you have in yours, and it was basically pristine. I had it on the market for a while, starting at $6500 and didn't get all that many bites. So, I think you may have some difficulty getting $5k for yours, but you never know...

I hear ya there on cali.. Texas is a truck market for sure though my brother inlaw that was in the navy near sandiego and advertised a long long long while on is partially restored c10. When he got back to Texas less than a week he had muliple offers and it it was sold.

After talking to pops though you know anytime you go to buy a 4x4 anything if it has tires lifts or anything.. it's 2x or 3x listed book value.

Pops saying he thinks he can get 6 or 7 (I think he's crazy) if the paint didn't have the couple dings I could see. But since the minor paint issues which will require a paint job down the road.. I'm thinking just the high end of book

As I look out into the market there are 0 trucks that even remotly come close to the way this one is. Most are in factory configuration.

Check your local area of the same truck.. That can help you on price.. Truck specs really depends what you can sell it for.. a v8 slt truck 4x4 is worth a little more than a v6... Miles is also a huge factor when someone is buying a older used truck... 4,500 is prob a good price is the miles arent too high..

Sadly the upgrades dont add much.. Tires are really the only thing that can bump up the price 2-300...

Heck I got an 1,800.00 clutch in my truck and to a buyer they could care less about it.. Ill never see anything close to what I have into it..
