I say start with a tune-up first check the wires plugs, cap, rotor and how good a spark you have your coil may be shot. How's the battery old/new get the charging system checked by AutoZone or such they do it for free this will check your battery also.

How long do you have to wait for it to start?

Put a fuel pressure gauge on it and watch what happens when the truck sits. You might have some fuel injectors leaking down and flooding the cylinders. The fuel pump may also have "problems."

What Dan had said. Might want to check fuel pressure regulator as well. Leaking down through the diaphragm will cause a hard start when warm. Also notice when it does start if your getting any smoke at all as this shows excess fuel in the cylinder or cylinders.
