I have a 2001 dodge dakota 4.7 and when i come to a stop and the blower/heater is on i get a gas/exhaust smell I cant find any exhaust or gas leaks my manifold bolts and gaskets are good they where replaced when i put the engine in My question is where could it be sucking it into the vents when i turn the blower on?

It has to be coming from under the hood. Are you sure it is an exhaust smell?

The intake for the plenum is in the cowl.

Have someone partially restrict the exhaust for a few seconds while you look under the hood for a leak.

I will try that been trying to figure this out Someone told me about the seal on the cowl that seals the hood going to replace that if i cant find the leak i think i am just going to send it to a exhaust shop i been trying to figure this out ever since i had the truck.

Glad you got the exhaust fixed. It's normal for your truck to not go into overdrive until it warms up.
