Default New Dakota

Im looking at buying a 98 v6 5 speed regular cab 2wd dakota that has been lowered slightly and has white dash panels. It has a little over 100,000 miles on it and is in really nice shape. The dealer is asking 5,800 right now. Is that a pretty decent deal?

I checked out Kelly Blue Book and it said $5,995 for that truck. I wasn't sure what package or options it had so I just estimated. $5,800 seems like a pretty good price to me. Maybe you could haggle with them and try to talk them down a little. Good luck bro.

Ok thanks. BTW, are the 3.9's pretty peppy in such a small truck or are they a little on the weak side? I noticed they only had 175 horses but it did have 225 lb ft of torque. Of course that is just the specs given by dodge thats prolly not what it will actually run on a dyno.

I would say the 3.9L is "adequate" in the Dakota. I have a club cab atx and its ok most of the time, but sometimes I feel like the truck can barely get out of its own way and hills are always an adventure. If I were to buy another Dakota I'd look for a V8 personally (or make my dad buy a V8 so when I buy his truck later I have one ) I don't think the couple mpg difference is worth the lack of power.

I have never driven a 5 speed Dakota though.

Well I went and drove the Dakota today and I have to say it is the most powerful truck I personally have drivin by far. I was very impressed with the truck and I can't wait until the check comes in so i can go get it. If the little v6 pushes this truck well, i would love to drive a dakota with a 5.9 [8D]

Bro, I bought a 2003 Dak R/T last month and haven't stopped smiling yet. I honestly enjoy driving it more than the 04 Ram HEMI I had. Good luck with the Dakota and remember, when you burn up that V6, you can always drop in a 5.9!
