60mm throttle body is in and I must say it has made a difference with acceleration I have more guts to the 2.5 now the 2.5 breaths better.
I truly wasn't sure it would help but it has helped just be sure the manifold is opened up as a stock manifold is only about a 50mm opening so if you don't open it up a 60mm TB doesn't work at all.
Most big throttle bodies on the market for the 2.5 will be a 62mm so the manifold will need to be opened up to a 62mm.
I had a custom TB made for me I think a 62mm is not needed or makes a difference on the 2.5.
That is a clean truck, congratulations! It makes me looking forward to work on mine. I already passed engine cleaner over it, should've taken a before picture
I modified my intake manifold considerably but the outside I had media blasted but that leaves it a dull gray color I used a crimped end brush on it to polish it up and a small hand wire brush.
Just beware getting the best from the 2.5 is expensive most like to swap them out for a V8 as its way cheaper to do so. You need to be able to make these changes DIY as a shop will charge you a boat load of cash.
The cost to getting more from the 2.5 is very high as the results are minimal to the cash spent.
A larger throttle body gives you the best results for the cash spent. So remove the intake manifold have it bored out to a 62mm then install a 62mm throttle body. You can find cheap intake manifolds on ebay around $40 and up but most are super dirty.
Thats a good way to go get a used manifold take your time cleaning it up then modify the manifold like I did and move the air temp sensor into the air hat this gives you better air flow a 62mm TB and things are good just remember you need the idle chamber, iac and map sensor off the 2.5 for it to run and idle proper.
I have also found the piston rings on the 2.5 like to get stuck an (mmo)-marvel mystery oil soak treatment tends to free the rings up and give you back some lost power let the oil soak a day or two for best results remove the plugs and pore into the cylinders hand rotate the engine to get the mmo into the rings be sure to pull the coil wire so you don't get a spark.
Be sure no dirt gets down into the spark-plug holes use air to blow any dirt out before you remove the plugs use a strong flashlight and check down into the spark-plug hole for dirt get it out. If the engine is cold use a garden hose to blast any dirt out then let dry before removing the plugs.
also don't pore to much (mmo) into the cylinders just an ounce in each is good.
Ok I found a new project if I can squeeze it in should be easy but it hit 103 yesterday HOT.
My rear trans mount has crushed down in the Pic of the new one you see an upside down heart on the bottom when I looked at my original mount that heart shaped open space is gone crushed down and on top their is a big gap were their should no gap the rubber is cracked up also.
I hope I don't need to drop the frame cross brace under it down that would suck. If I need any engine mounts and I may every time I look they are not available anymore sometimes I look and one is available but thats it.
