Default 4.7 engine don't always start on 1st key turn

Sometimes but not always when I try to start my 2002 Dakota slt 4x4 4.7 it will crank and stop, like it tried to start but didn't, then after several seconds of cranking it will start. It runs great and gets excellent gas mileage. It has 57K miles. I changed the throttle position sensor and the PVC valve. It does this about 10% of the time. It always starts but this is getting annoying. Anyone out there have this problem and what was the fix?

Crank and stop? As in it starts and dies or the starter motor actually stops cranking.

If it's hard to start, check the fuel pressure.

It's like it doesn't catch. It stops cranking. Sometime it almost catches , like its almost running and I give it some gas and it revs and is ok. It acts like its flooded when it does not start. In a normal start it cranks starts and revs to about 1000 rpms then settles back to about 600.

I'd check the fuel pressure. It should be about 49 psi when running. Your injectors might be leaking down though and flooding the cylinders.
