Someone keeps breaking into my 1998 extra cab
I can't find any marks or indications that someone is using a jimmy device, but someone has entered my truck at least 4 times so far. Searched pretty hard and I am not finding much in the way of information on security issues for the door or vehicle entry. Or, for that matter, any information as to what can be done to prevent this form of attack.
Is there anyone out there that has any ideas on this? The outfit that put in the alarm said they couldn't do a dome light supervision, so unless you set off the glass breaks or shock sensor, there's not a trigger for the alarm. I put in a standard motion detector to alert me, but that's about all I have come up with.
Thank you in advance

anyone with lockout tools can open any vehicle and not leave any signs of forced entry.
why don't you install door pin plungers. These work in conjunction with a theft module and will trigger the alarm when the door is opened.

Thanks guys....
Right now it's looking like a shaved key bandit jiggling his way in. Hate to do it, but I believe a proximity sensor is going to be the next step. New lock cores wouldn't make a difference if it is a shaved key. In the meantime, I have a few noisemakers in the cab and one that alerts me in the apartment to hold me over.
The use of supervised circuits was pretty common in my commercial alarm days, but the dome light would be a bit dubious, I'll grant you that. It seemed like a possible option before prox sensor. Moot point now.
Outside a quick grab and go, I don't think there's much more concern to be had here. Much longer than that and I will be outside to investigate. We'll call it that.
Thanks much

how so? What ever is used as a trigger, dome light, pin plungers...once the alarm is tripped...it will not shut off until the module is shut off or disconnected from power....no different than any factory system.
Any system can be disabled...its all about the time involved to get around it? Proximity sensors are viable option but they will trigger a lot if your parked on the street.

Don't worry about it , if 'they' didn't steal anything or trash your truck .
probably someone sleeps in there once in a while ...
