Can anyone help me figure out how this cable is routed, or what might be causing my rear window to just slide down into the door?
I have a 2000 Quad Cab Dakota w/ the 360.
The motor runs fine. There's a wire cable that seems to be loose. There are also a couple plastic fittings, but I think I've got them in place.
Behind the bracket that attaches to the window mount, the cable terminates. I can feel it, with a fitting and cable cover. I just can't get a pic of what's behind here.
Here's a view of the loose cable.
Here's an overview so you can see the inspection cutout configuration.
I can't figure out how to open the .rar files of the manual downloads that are offered here on the forum. Does anyone have a drawing of what's inside the door?
I would love to get/have the manual. But when I download that file, it has an extension ".rar", which I've never seen before. I had found some info that you could use the VLC application to open it, but it didn't work. Even after it converted them to pdf's, by chapter, they were just null files, no content.
I will keep working on it, but do you have any advice? How do you open the files in that download? I do have a Mac. I'll try it on the PC, just in case.
Thanks so much for your help!

P.S. I don't see what good replacing the motor would do. It runs fine. If anything, I'd say it runs fine but its range of travel is out of whack. Unless you mean take it to a shop and tell them to fix it, in which case they will replace the motor at a huge markup and charge me 4 hours labor, to simply route that cable that I'm trying to figure out how to route. That's what I'm NOT doing! (Paying some guy $700 to put the cable on the right pulley....)
Once that cable comes apart only solution is to replace regulator. Napa online part number NOE-6655382 Price is $104.00 super easy install That is for regulator only
It's more trouble than it's worth to try and repair the cable. Get a regulator/motor combination and swap it out. One little trick I use to replace regulators is a large suction cup like you would use to carry a window. Disconnect the glass and raise it as high as you can. Place the suction cup on the glass at the top of the frame to hold the window in place. (Where you would rest your arm.) These can seem to be intimidating but once you do 2 or 3, they aren't too bad.
