Vibrations, 98 dakota
1998 Dakota 2WD, 5 speed manual, 4 cylinder. I get a very intense vibration ONLY when I drive between 32 and 40 mph. It doesn't matter if I am in neutral or in gear, accelerating, decelerating, foot on pedal, off pedal, or any specific gear. It is purely speed sensitive.
My rear wheels did not have balancing weights, so I got the wheels balanced this morning (they were both unbalanced). The feel on the front steering wheel is always buttery smooth (even when the vibration happens), the wheels are balanced. So... Everything is unchanged, same vibrations are still there.
I inspected the driveshaft, it has no visible warp or signs of it being hit somewhere.
I read somewhere that a bad vehicle speed sensor (for the speedometer) can confuse the torque converter and cause vibrations. My speedometer and vehicle speed sensor is not working, it is actually coming up as a check engine light code. Do manual transmissions have torque converters?
And where the heck is the vehicle speed sensor on the manual tranny?!?!?
What else can it be?

Manual = no converter speed sensor is part of ABS sensor its on top of the rear differential.
Your vibration may be your clutch is worn out does it feel like as you accelerate you loose ground or its just not going anywhere.
So your U-joints are good the drive shaft may out of balance also or diff bearing is going?
Check that your alternator, AC compressor or other things on the belt are not lose.

Hows the rear diff oil level is it a posi the clutch may be shot they self destruct at times?
If the clutch job was a poor job or a bad used pressure plate you can get all kinds of chatter was the pilot bearing replaced and the release bearing?
