Default code p0500

i have a 2000 dakota sport 4x4 3.9 v6.. its trowing the code p0500 and abs and air bag lights are on.. some times they turn off and truck runs fine. but while lights are on the speedo stops as well as the odo. i have changed the speed sensor in the rear.. kinda lost on where else to look for the solution any help would be welcomed

Welcome to the forum 00kota.

P0500 is no vehicle speed sensor signal. It usually is the rear speed sensor, in the differential. But, the rear wheel speed sensor feeds into the ABS controller. The question now is, is it the speed sensor or the ABS controller causing the fault.

You'll need a scan tool that can access the ABS controller and provide live data.
