Front Fender Replacement
Thanks for Obama's "Cash for Clunkers" program years ago, used fenders are almost impossible to find anymore. Question is, and I'm sure the answer is No, but figured I would still ask, will fenders from a 3rd gen fit a 2nd gen 2000 Dakota. Found a listing in my area for 2 (good Condition) front fenders for $100, but are listed as 3rd gen.
I figured they would not fit because they were 3rd gen, but wondered if anybody tried using 3rd gen fenders as a replacement. Yes, I have seen aftermarket replacement fenders on E-bay for $225-250 a set with free shipping, but with the fender wells on the bed and both lower door panels also rotting away, new fenders are not a top priority. $100 for a rust free pair on Craigslist was a deal worth asking about. Even stopped at a large junk yard in PA last year and asked about fenders and they said "they have to order new fenders for their customers because used ones are no where to be found". The rust really took hold last winter and actually had chunks breaking free under the paint. The Dakota is a 2000 V6 base cab with 117,000 and would like to make it look better, but with 2 major problems being: (1) can not break the spark plugs free (2) P1740 transmission code that the dealer could not repair after 3 visits. The P1740 code has been on for 3 years now and no shifting problems yet.

*Amazon has some, too. Add a vehicle to your garage and it'll tell you if the parts fit or not.
