Default Tire width

How wide of a tire will work with factory 15" 2nd gen wheels. I currently have 31 x 10.5 and would like to go to a 33" tire. Possible wider if it would work.

Are you lifted or stock? That kind of information is helpful.

i think factory 15" wheels are 7" wide, 16" are 8" wide. could be wrong. Not sure you could fit a 12.5 on a 7" wheel but you can try.

I believe they are 15 x 8. If I remember correctly they measured 9" from outside edge to outside edge

33x12.50's will probably rub like crazy. I run 33x10.50's on mine with a 2" body lift and get no rubbing at all. But had the same wheels and tires on a 99 extended cab with a 1.5" suspension lift and they rubbed at full flex.

With that truck it was fine on the streets but they'd hit the fenders in almost any off road situation. I trimmed the inside of the fender/bumper back and it was fine, but had to take about an inch of metal out on the fenders and a couple inches on that plastic bumper extension. I think that 33x12'50's would have been out of the question. Even with the 33x10'50's they rubbed on the frame. There was a shiny spot where it took all the paint off the frame. And going with wheels with different backspacing would have probably put them so far into the fenders that no trimming would have worked unless you got into the side of the fender.

If you're going for width maybe a set of 32x11.50's would work out.
