Default 2001 Dakota door locks

My Dakota Sport locks the doors by itself, with the key out and no one near it. I think it is a module of some sort that needs replacing. Which module? Thanks for any input.

There's a thread on this on the Dakota FB group right now. Apparently everybody hates it, but it's a thing. My new hyundai does the same thing.

long story short, alot of people have locked their keys in the truck, particularly with it running. Mine has auto-locked on me several times in park. I learned to keep the window rolled down.

There's no such feature on an '01 Dakota. You need to use the RKE to lock/unlock.

It will autolock the doors when the vehicle exceeds 15mph.

It could be a bad door switch or possibly a CTM issue. The CTM controls the door locks.

DakDan, What is the full name of the CTM? This is locking both doors, it is not a bad door lock. After it locks them, it will re-lock them every few minutes.

What is the RKE?

Thanks for the input,
Lewis

CTM = central timer module
RKE = remote keyless entry

The door lock switches will lock or unlock both doors when you turn the key in the door cylinder. One of the switches may be faulty causing it to trigger the locks.
