Hello, transfer case issue
New guy here. I have a question. I just picked up a 98 Dakota 4x4 3.9l. It has been sitting for a couple years. It is really hard to shift into 4 hi and I can't get the shifter to go into 4 low. Is that a lubricant issue or a t-case issue?

Welcome to the forum George.
It could be either. The transfer case probably hasn't been shifted much into any gear and more likely than not, seldom if ever into low.
Remember, it's part time. You can't drive it on bare pavement in 4wd.
Keep trying to shift it. You may need to roll very slowly to shift it into 4lo.
