Which part(s) of the 2500 frame is/are rotted? Can you graft the front end of it onto the Dakota rear half?
I myself wouldn't be too worried about it. In stock form, it's rated 310 @ 4100 and 450 @ 4200 . Don't have any weight numbers, but I wouldn't figure more than 70 pounds over a 360.. An extra 4 inches of block and cylinder head shouldn't weigh that much.
