I have a 2001 Dakota 3.9 four wheel drive transmissions is toast. Trying to find a transmission to go in it but everyone says it has to be from the exact same year and engine size is this true? I found a transmission from a 99 Dakota 3.9 4x4 will this work any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

97-00 go as a group and 01-04 go as a group. You can't cross the barrier of 2000 without having problems.
