Default Someone with a 1999 Dakota...

I got this truck and I'm trying to sort out a problem...maybe get to that in a bit...but in the immediate sense I found a loose wire and I need someone to take a look under their hood and tell me where it came from.

There's a ground connection on the firewall, right of center, about an inch from the trans fluid stick tube. It has a small single wire lug that goes behind the distributor, and a double lug heavier wire. One of those goes more or less straight down, probably to something on the transmission, and the other (in my truck) goes forward and then just dangles loose more or less straight under the ECM.

It has a ring lug and obviously belongs somewhere, and whatever it is supposed to be grounding may well be a big part of my problem. But I have no idea where it came from. Any help greatly appreciated.

post a picture, I think one should go to the bolt that holds the dipstick to the back of the head...

Should be one strap going to the back of each cylinder head.

I traced the connected one to a bolt on the back of the right head and found an empty hole on the back of the left head in roughly the same spot. Putting it on a valve cover bolt is a good idea. Thanks.
