Default p0456pd... What are my options?

Hello! I have an 02 Dakota Sport. I have this code, I have visually inspected all hoses and replaced the two u-shaped hoses connected to the vapor canister underneath the truck. I have also replaced the gascap. This code came on today at 16 miles since the last reset.

So I reset that code... While driving, I inspected my code reader and p0442pd fired within 2 miles. The code seems to flip flop between p0442 and p0456 and they both code for a "small leak."

What about the 2 little hoses at the purge valve, also check for the canister tube melted at the left exhaust manifold.

I gave up on that one long, long ago. My engine light has been on for the last 80,000 miles lol.

KDAN - I can certainly relate to what you're saying. I've had my truck into the professional mechanics TWICE in the last few weeks and they can't seem to find the problem with mine either. Here lately I believe all they want to do is throw parts at it.... not a very good way to solve the problem. I hope that a serious problem does not present itself while the garden variety "check engine" light hides it....FredT

If you really want to get rid of it, ask these folks if their software allows you to turn them off.

I have the GM version of this, EFI Live, and I normally shut these codes off first thing. And by turn off I don't mean clear the code, I mean turn the code off so it won't report.
